I love quilting and providing gifts that can be passed down for generations.
To me there’s just something about the feel of a handmade quilt.
I remember being about 5 or 6 and sitting in my granny’s den and watching her hand quilt. I was so intrigued. I was fascinated with how my granny could take scraps of fabric (old clothes, old curtains, etc.) and make a beautiful quilt out of it. My granny was a hand quilter. Her name was Ruby Mozelle Robbins. I have named my online quilt store after her since she was the person that first introduced me to quilting. I have been quilting for over 25 years and most of the quilts I have made have been gifts or have been donated as fundraisers for non-profit organizations.
I have also quilted some quilts tops that were made years ago (over 50 years old) by customers family members. The quilt top was just sitting in a box and now they are proudly displayed in their homes.
In 2015, after working outside the home for over 20 years, I left the workforce to take care of my husband who had terminal cancer. The Lord took him home in May 2016. Since then I have been quilting and embroidering full time from my home. I love my new “job” because I usually don’t feel like it’s “work”!
In 2016 I decided to take up gardening and I now have a 12′ x 32′ garden in my backyard that I built with the help of my sisters. I am growing cucumbers, carrots, grapes, lettuce, basil and many more yummy vegetables and herbs.
Oh and I can’t forget to mention my three little dogs – Ripley, Grace and Opal.
